BLOGGER

Youngest kid of six with an inferiority and black sheep complex, but determined that God saves not just his soul to heaven but the remainder of his manic-depressive life, so others won't say he became a Christian and remained a jerk.

MAIN THEMES

On identity
i won't be transparent before i'm opaque. and you'll get to know me starting from the small things: who my favourite bands are. what kind of movies i like. who are my heroes.

On Christianity
I’m convinced that when confronted with sincere, real love, the Jesus factor will become obvious. But let’s not plant the cross before we carry it. I’m not trying to con you.

On dreams
Some dreams are meant to be achieved. I know that. But maybe other dreams are meant to drive us, privately. Never known to anyone but ourselves.

OTHER THEMES

On melancholy
It is a sadness that, when choosing between crying and sighing, will choose sighing. I'd almost say that melancholy is being sad about sadness itself.

On memory and nostalgia
It saddens me when life moves forward and people decide that certain things are worth forgetting.

On language
I've learnt that the word irregardless is filed as a non-standard word in the English language. That's a lexicographer's way of saying it's not a real word.

On politics
Crowds are fickle things. So when we stand in the thousands and cry against the present government, do we know who we're actually crying for?

On society
People always want the best for themselves. But I want to sometimes take second or third or fourth best, just so that the loser down the road doesn't always have to come in last. It must feel like shit to always come in last.

On growing old
Leasehold property make me feel sad. It doesn't matter how old the family photos are that you put on your wall. It's your family but it's not really your wall.

On philosophy
I ask you, if God loves everyone, and if God is also incapable of loving evil, how can there be such a thing as an evil man?

On a daily basis
One line quips, like this.

SNIFF HERE TO KNOW YOUR FUTURE MATE

stacey (DeCrowned1) was telling me that when animals find their mates, they usually find the most suitable ones through smell. she also said that it should be the same for humans. but then, she also prescribed that people with body odour wear perfume in order to mask the smell. apparently, it might help them in the romance department (at least, where the romanced is someone with ultra sensitive smelling sense, like her).

to which i said that if one wore perfume and masked one's natural odour, one might actually be attracting the wrong mates. the people who might naturally be attracted to one's odour might be turned off completely or miss the mark altogether and never consider one for a mate. the perfume one wears will attract all the wrong suitors, lured by the false promise of potential compatibility. it would only be a fake smell. a lie, and i dare say, deception.

if my reaction to this is valid (and vicariously, to stacey's initial statement), then does that mean that we should all go around wearing our natural body odours (instead of our deo sticks n sprays)? is it in fact a call to the wild? a regression into smells of the world where people stalk the earth proud of the aplomb their natural scents bring? will this actually improve our society's chances of correctly matching more compatible couples by virtue of nasal attraction? (and should we not recommend it to singapore?!)

i have my reservations. of going around in heavy perfume, of going around without any deo and definitely of going around sniffing at girls to find Miss Right. the jury hereby deny stacey's motion and sentence her to 1 week of reduced credibility where conversations about nasal matters and romance are concerned. case is adjurned.

  • Absolutely adore your fantabulous niche here, Fergus! Lovin' it...

As far as "alternative"... y'see, to study an accelerated curriculum, I must attend an alternative school. A dwelling place for folks who don't find public high schools condusive to their particular "needs". All sorts of "alternative" types are found there- geniuses, drug addicts, nuts, sluts... makes for fabulous story telling, and even heightens my awareness on our society's need for broader social understanding/accept ance.

Hope that clears it up, 'gus!

  • Excuse me?! Up to you to believe that. Personally I experienced that I'm sensitive to smell. It doesn't harm you to put perfume that you are comfortable with. I have many friends who doesn't care with their body odour and it's just drives me away from them. If I got the chance to be away from them, I would rather be! Seriously!!! If you want to do a research on it, please do so....
You don't have to sniff at girls to know your Miss Right! Hey, com'on.... Still depends on God what... You are not suppose to depend on your own ability to find your Miss Right, for God knows who's the best for you...
The Miss Right will come to know your body odour soon - Communication is important then... Emm.... plus... watch out your mouth breath.. heheheee....
    Peace.

  • everything also must watch - mouth breath, body odour, hair odour, feet smell, surely lah. humans were made to smell like so many things. and then got the non-natural smells like eat and then got kari splash here lah, chop garlic hands got smell for two days lah, then if eat durian then die liao lah. what to do right?

so the only way is to go au naturale. hehee. ok. i agree that must try to mask all the natural smells but there really aren't any perfumes i'm "comfortable" with. so it looks like i've to find alternative methods... like folding my clothes with flowers pressed in between them or something.
